[frame_dev] Restart autonumbering for Figures and Tables

Maybe I’m not looking in the right places but, I can’t seem to find
the feature in the EDD that causes the figure and table numbers to be
reset in my FrameMaker document. Physically what happens is, the
numbering will reset whenever a new procedure level element is open.
Unlike ordered and unordered lists which have formatting change lists
defined for the first item in a list, there is no explicit definition
for figures and tables that I can see. I suspect that the secret
lies in the autonumbering definition, which for the figure, is
attached to the figure’s CAPTION element. The autonumbering is
specified in the paragraph designer numbering tab as “T:Figure ” and my suspicion is that the “T:” holds the answer to my
question. The “Figure ” part is what get displayed on the
page as “Figure 1 “, etc. However, I cannot find any meaningful
documentation on what the “T:” really stands for. In
Structure_Dev_Guide.pdf, appendix A contains a whole table of alpha-
colon definitions in the context of document conversion but I can’t
seem to make the connection as to how it relates to autonumbering and
reset points.
Ultimately, I want to include another element in this arbitrary
collection of procedure level elements, so that Figure and Table
numbering will automatically be reset at the boundaries as well.
One clue that I do have is shown in a comment area in the EDD. It
reads:
Autonumber prefixes used between the EDD and Template:
A: Alpha lists (edd)
T: Figure Captions (template)
N: Number lists (edd)
T: Table Titles (template)
I see where the A: and N: are used in the EDD in the formatting
change lists but I don’t find any declaration for these. And I can’t
find T: anywhere in either the EDD or the template.
Any pointers?
Thanks
Chuck
