Getting Started
This is a shared blog by, for and about developers of tools based on the Framemaker Developer Kit. Framemaker offers a rich API that C or C++ programmers can use to write code that automates or extends the behavior of Framemaker with command-line based tools or extensions to the Framemaker GUI.
The subjects of this blog will include:
- Notes on the experiences of a couple of for-now-to-remain-nameless FDK hackers
- Example source code for Framemaker FDK clients, for Framemaker 7.0, 6.0 and (soon) 7.2
- Links to resources we’ve found useful for dealing with (or avoiding dealing with) the Framemaker Developer Kit APIs
- Any rumors we may get about upcoming releases of Framemaker– new features, new platforms, timelines…
- Occasional outbursts of irrationality, triggered by problems working with Framemaker– or other stressors, such as overwork, the love of money, or whatever else strikes us
This blog is just getting started, so bear with us…. Also, if you’re a Frame Developer Kit developer, and you’d like to get yourself a blog to talk about writing Framemaker tools, leave us comments, and we’ll contact you about setting up a space for you to blog.
