Two announcements from MadCap: Madcap Lingo, and Partnership with across Systems
Of the two, Lingo sounds like the cooler bit of news– I’ve seen what help translation can entail and what it can cost. (The idea of linking to Google’s translation tools in the UI is quite clever.) But all this suggests that Madcap will be agile going forwards, which they will need to be to go toe-to-toe with a much larger rival in Adobe.
With the attendance and sponsorship of the Society for Technical Communications 54th Annual Conference in Minneapolis, MadCap has announced the newest addition to the MadCap family of products- MadCap Lingo. Lingo will be the first truly XML based, fully integrated Help authoring tool and translation memory system. MadCap Lingo offers an incredibly easy-to-use interface, complete Unicode support for all left-to-right languages, and a rich list of industry-first features for assisting translators throughout the localization process-including a built-in translation memory system and support for Google’s translation service.
